Tusayan Ranger District Fire Update

TUSAYAN, Ariz. – Officials report minimal growth after Tuesday’s operations on the Parallel and Woodbridge Fires on the Tusayan Ranger District. The lightning-caused wildfires continue to meet the resource objectives officials have outlined for the incidents, which include improving forest health and returning fire to the ecosystem, thereby reducing the risk of a severe wildfire.

The Parallel Fire is 3,160 acres, nine miles southeast of Tusayan. Three engines are working on the incident. Wednesday, crews will be working on the southern edge of the management area and along Forest Road 304 as conditions allow.

The Woodbridge Fire is 1,100 acres, eighteen miles east of Tusayan. It is mostly creeping and smoldering within a 6,000-acre management area. Personnel will monitor and patrol the fire today.

The forecast shows cloudy conditions and a chance of thunderstorms for the rest of the week.

There are no closures associated with these fires; however, if you are traveling on the Tusayan Ranger District, please be cautious of personnel and equipment working on and near roads around the fires.
