Bolt Fire Monday Update
Flagstaff, AZ – Over the weekend, the Bolt Fire continued to benefit the forest with steady growth across the forest floor northeast of Munds Park. Crews are managing the fire to protect and enhance wildlife habitat and reduce hazardous fuels. Fire recycles nutrients into the soil, promoting the growth of grasses and other healthy vegetation, and reduces accumulated fuels that could lead to more intense fire under drier conditions. Crews are expecting the fire to continue burning, fulfilling its natural role in the ecosystem, at least through the week.
Similar smoke patterns are expected for the duration of this fire. In the evenings and early mornings, smoke is following canyons and drainages into Munds Park, Sedona, and Walnut Canyon. It generally lifts and disperses as the morning warms.
With precipitation in the forecast for the next few days, fire managers are expecting slower growth and less smoke production, however smoke will continue to be visible from the Flagstaff area, especially around Mountainaire, Munds Park, Lake Mary Meadows and Elk Park Meadows.

Size: 350 acres
Road Closures: There are no road closures at this time, but travelers in the area should be cautious of fire crews and equipment.
