US Forest Service in Alaska Unveils New and Improved Web Presence

JUNEAU, ALASKA - The US Forest Service, Alaska Region, is launching its new and improved website today. The new site offers in-depth information on its mission, programs and activities. The site provides increased use of social media, access to more imagery and enhanced capabilities for those with hearing and sight disabilities.

“It is our hope that the website’s fresh appearance and user-friendly design will be instrumental in providing resource information to the public,” said Public Affairs Director Michael Odle. “We have streamlined the site’s navigation, making it more intuitive and user-friendly.”

The look and feel of all Forest Service websites will be similar in the months to come. The agency is transitioning to a standard web design for all offices. The continuity across forest websites  nationwide will allow users to browse more easily and locate information important to them.

Visitors to the new site will find live video cams, downloadable imagery, audio, news and events and many other new products and pages.

“One of the primary goals of the website is to highlight the exciting launch of our various social media applications including Twitter, flickr, blogging, podcasting and RSS feed readers,” said Odle.

The Chugach National Forest launched their redesigned website February 1. The Tongass National Forest will be transitioning to the new design in the near future.
