The Peaks Ranger District plans to conduct prescribed pile burns on the Eastside Project this week.
Pending favorable conditions, crews will burn piles off Townsend-Winona Rd near Slayton Ranch and Koch Field roads Tuesday and Thursday. In addition, piles located on the Peaks Ranger District administrative site off Hwy 89 are scheduled to be burned Wednesday.
Smoke will be light but noticeable in the immediate areas during ignition. Residual smoke will be minimal.
All prescribed fire activity is dependent on personnel availability, weather – including ventilation conditions, and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (www.azdeq.gov).
