Tentative prescribed fire plans for Thursday

Flagstaff, AZ – Pending favorable conditions, fire managers are planning prescribed fires on the following projects for Thursday, November 19.

All prescribed fire activity is dependent on personnel availability, weather – including ventilation conditions, and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (www.azdeq.gov).

Woody Ridge Project – Crews will burn 8 slash piles located off Woody Mountain Road, approximately 2.5 miles northeast of Rogers Lake and 3 miles south of I-40.  Smoke will be lighter and will disperse to the northeast.  Some residual smoke may be noticeable from Hwy 89A overnight.

IMAX Project – 250 acres located approximately 7 miles northwest of Clints Well.  Smoke will disperse to the north, however, some residual smoke may follow drainages and settle toward the Verde Valley overnight.

In addition, crews from the Mormon Lake Ranger District plan to ignite several Miscellaneous Piles located across the district including the debris pile at the Willard Springs Transfer Station, the smoke from which will be visible from I-17.
