WASHINGTON, Feb. 27, 2023 – On Tuesday, February 28, USDA Equity Commission Co-Chairs Deputy Secretary Jewel Bronaugh and United Farm Workers President Emeritus Arturo S. Rodriguez, and other members of the Equity Commission, as well as Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will participate in a panel discussion that will be livestreamed virtually. The event centers on the findings within the Equity Commission’s 2023 Interim Report to Secretary Vilsack. The Commission’s interim report includes wide-ranging recommendations on ways USDA can improve equity and accessibility in its programs, policies, systems, structures, and practices.
The discussion is part of USDA’s continued efforts to advance equity in every facet of its mission. The report cumulates a year’s worth of work by the Commission and the Subcommittee on Agriculture. Its recommendations reflect the members’ thoughtful, in-depth review of USDA and will inform and enhance the Department’s ongoing efforts to address long-standing inequities and realize lasting change across its services.
