(Washington, D.C., July 15, 2020) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will be in Austin and Houston, Texas TOMORROW, Thursday, July 16th to participate in a shared stewardship signing with Governor Greg Abbott and participate in a cattle stakeholder roundtable with Senator John Cornyn in the Austin area. The Secretary and Senator Cornyn will also visit the Houston Food Bank, a partner in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Farmers to Families Food Box Program, which has distributed nearly 40 million food boxes in support of American farmers and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and McLane Global, a partner in deliver food to rural kids across America.
 
Secretary Perdue to Sign Shared Stewardship Agreement with Governor Abbott
WHAT: Secretary Perdue will sign a shared stewardship agreement with Governor Abbott. The agreement establishes a framework for partnership with the state to ensure our national forests and grasslands are on a path to health and productivity. Secretary Perdue to Visit McLane Global, a partner in feeding rural kids
WHAT: Secretary Perdue and Senator Cornyn will visit McLane Global, one of USDA’s partners in feeding rural kids in Texas and across America who have been impacted by school closures as a result of COVID-19. The Secretary and Senator will tour the food box packing facility and participate in a discussion with partners Baylor University and PepsiCo. The Secretary will be announcing a new milestone in meals delivered. Following the event, Secretary Perdue will hold a media availability.
