(Washington, D.C., February 27, 2020) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will be in San Antonio, Texas TOMORROW, Friday, February 28, 2020 to announce three rural broadband awards and to deliver the keynote address during the General Session at the 2020 Commodity Classic, where more than 2,000 farmers and their families are expected to be in attendance.
Secretary Perdue, Commissioner Miller to participate in ReConnect Program Announcement Ceremony
WHAT: Secretary Perdue and Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller will participate in a multi-million dollar ReConnect Program Announcement Ceremony. Millions in USDA funding will increase e-connectivity, bringing high-speed internet to rural Texas. The three awards cover a total of nine counties including Webb and Zapata counties in South Texas; Brazos, Grimes, Madison, and Walker counties in Southeast Texas; and Titus, Camp, and Wood counties in East Texas. Following the event, Secretary Perdue will hold a media availability.

Secretary Perdue to deliver Keynote Address to Commodity Classic
WHAT: Secretary Perdue will deliver the keynote address during the General Session at the 2020 Commodity Classic, an annual conference for corn, soybean, sorghum, and wheat growers and manufacturers. In his speech, the Secretary will discuss recent trade wins, USDA’s Agriculture Innovation Agenda, and the importance of the American biofuels industry. Immediately following his remarks, Secretary Perdue will hold a media availability in Room 221 A-B.
