USDA to Announce Completion of a Partnership Effort to Mitigate Greenhouse Gases

 

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17, 2014 — TODAY, USDA’s Under Secretary of Natural Resources and Environment Robert Bonnie, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Greg Martin, Executive Director for Global Public Policy, General Motors and several conservation partners will host a press conference to announce the completion of the first-of-its kind purchase of verified carbon credits generated on working ranch lands by Chevrolet.

 

At the press conference, participants will discuss how the carbon credit purchase program will create revenue for farmers while reducing carbon emissions. USDA officials will discuss how Conservation Innovation Grants are used to help develop the methodology to measure carbon stored in soil.
