Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to Host Media Call to Announce New Risk Management Program for Dairy Farmers
WASHINGTON, August 27, 2014 - TOMORROW, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will host a media conference call to announce the start of a new risk management program for dairy farmers, known as the dairy Margin Protection Program. The voluntary program, established by the 2014 Farm Bill, will allow dairy farmers to take steps to protect their business from economic risks beyond their control. The Margin Protection Program, which replaces the Milk Income Loss Contract program, gives participating dairy producers the flexibility to select coverage levels best for their operation.
