Agriculture Under Secretary Concannon Hosts Media Call to Discuss USDA Support for Schools

Child Nutrition Experts to Join Call to Underscore Ways USDA is Helping Schools Make Lunchrooms “Smarter” as Students Head Back to School

WASHINGTON, Aug. 21, 2014 – TODAY, Agriculture Under Secretary Kevin Concannon will join representatives from the Cornell Center for Behavioral Economics for Child Nutrition Programs, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, and the National Healthy Schools Program on a media conference call to discuss new resources to help schools serve healthy meals and snacks and encourage student consumption of healthier foods this coming school year.  Highlights include grants awarded to states, new tools for schools, and the relaunch of the HealthierUS School Challenge, which recognizes and awards schools who are engaging in voluntary steps that encourage kids to make healthy choices.
