UPDATED 3:00 PM TODAY: White House to Host Press Call on the President’s designation of Five Promise Zones with Secretary Vilsack, Secretary Donovan, and Secretary Duncan

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Thursday, January 9, at 3:00 PM ET, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan, and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will participate in a call to discuss the President’s announcement of five Promise Zones.
This call will follow President Obama’s announcement at the White House regarding the first five Promise Zones, located in San Antonio, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Southeastern Kentucky, and the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
The President first announced the Promise Zone Initiative during last year’s State of the Union Address, as a way to partner with local communities and businesses to create jobs, increase economic security, expand access to educational opportunities and quality, affordable housing, and improve public safety.
