Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to Host Media Call on White House Rural Council Meeting, Announce New Report on Need for a Farm Bill

 

WASHINGTON, Nov. 21, 2013 - TODAY, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will hold a national press call immediately following a meeting of the White House Rural Council in Washington, D.C. Secretary Vilsack will announce the release of a new White House Rural Council report outlining the need for Congressional passage of a new Farm Bill as soon as possible.

 

The Obama Administration has called for Congress to pass a five-year farm bill that promotes rural development, preserves a strong farm safety net, maintains nutrition programs, encourages the development of local and regional markets, enhances conservation, honors our international trade commitments, and advances agricultural research.
