Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Farmer Veteran Coalition Executive Director Michael O’Gorman to Host Media Call on Local and Regional Food Systems 

 

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17, 2013 – TOMORROW, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Farmer Veteran Coalition Executive Director Michael O’Gorman will host a media call to highlight how local and regional food systems are helping to create new markets for new and beginning farmers, including many veterans.

 

Secretary Vilsack will discuss the need for Congress to pass a comprehensive Food, Farm and Jobs Bill to support growth in local and regional food systems, a multi-billion dollar market opportunity. Many veterans rely on local and regional food markets to enter agriculture, return to civilian life and support their families.
