Agriculture Secretary Vilsack to Host Conference Call to Discuss Efforts to Reduce Childhood Hunger This Summer
WASHINGTON, April 12, 2013- TODAY, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will host a media conference call to urge communities across the country to help fill the summer meal gap, and ensure that children have access to healthy food year round through USDA’s Summer Food Service Program.
Secretary Vilsack will discuss an effort by the USDA to provide increased technical assistance to five states with the highest levels of rural or urban food insecurity or historically low program participation rates. Target states include Arkansas, California, Colorado, Rhode Island, and Virginia.
