Media Advisory: USDA Under Secretary for Food Safety Dr. Elisabeth Hagen to Host Virtual Office Hours As Part of National Food Safety Education Month
WASHINGTON, Sept. 26, 2012— USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has put a number of new policies into place to make meat, poultry, and processed egg products safer, and the agency is using new technologies, such as the Ask Karen smartphone app, to better reach consumers.
On Thursday, Sept. 27, USDA Under Secretary for Food Safety Dr. Elisabeth Hagen will host a live Virtual Office Hours session on Twitter to answer your questions about what USDA is doing to bring down rates of foodborne illness, as well as what you can do at home to keep your family safe.
As part of National Food Safety Education Month, Dr. Hagen will answer your food safety questions live on Twitter, such as:

How can I keep my family safe from foodborne illness?

What is USDA doing to bring down rates of E. coli and Salmonella illnesses?

If I discover a problem with my food, where can I report it?

What should I do if I have a recalled product?
