Media Advisory: Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to Discuss Rural Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Announce Help for Rural Homeowners to Make Energy Improvements
WASHINGTON, July 17, 2012 – TODAY, Secretary Vilsack will announce a new effort to help rural consumers make affordable, energy-efficient improvements to their homes and businesses. The intent of the proposed rule is to spark increased investment in energy efficiency, expand green jobs opportunities and boost energy savings – reflecting the Obama Administration efforts to build a stronger rural economy.
Secretary Vilsack will make the announcement from Pennsylvania, after he delivers remarks at the Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association in Harrisburg. He will be joined by National Rural Electric Cooperative Association CEO Glenn English and The Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina President and CEO Mike Couick.
