Agriculture Deputy Secretary Merrigan to Visit Virginia to Announce Recovery Act Investment to Assist Local Community

New Water and Environmental Program Projects to Spur Job Creation in Rural Areas
 
 
WASHINGTON, Aug. 5, 2010 – TODAY, Agriculture Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan will visit Virginia to make a national funding announcement for projects to protect public health and the environment by improving water quality and public sanitation services in 24 states. Merrigan will be joined by Congressman Tom Perriello at the Halifax County Courthouse in Virginia to highlight the environmental, health and economic benefits the Recovery Act investments will provide to the Maple Avenue Wastewater Treatment Plan and the local community.
