  INTERNATIONAL FOOD AID & DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 2-4, 2010, IN KANSAS CITY
 

KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 13, 2010 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Agency for International Development today announced the 12th annual International Food Aid & Development Conference will be held in Kansas City, Mo., Aug. 2-4, 2010.  The theme of this year’s conference is “Partnerships for a Better Future.”

Speakers for this year’s conference will come from government, private, voluntary non-governmental and international organizations involved in the development of global food security, food and agricultural companies, trade associations, transportation industry and academia.

The International Food Aid & Development Conference provides a forum to discuss policy and operational issues related to food aid and development, as well as ways to improve communication and cooperation, including government, private voluntary and non-government organizations, and agricultural and transportation industry representatives.  The conference also will give conference participants an opportunity to discuss food security, logistics issues, public-private partnerships, commodity cargo handling, value added products, nutrition and supply chain management.
