Do you want the kwboot tool to prepare the image? It seems to me like it makes a lot more sense to have a tool to prepare the image. Remember also that this tool is needed to *extract* existing images. And you haven't explained how you intend to do this without a proper userspace tool such as kwbimage. And by the way, the tool is a simple userspace tool written entirely in C, I'm not sure to see where the problem is.
