Is there a way to not have borders around windows? Or at least the side
vertical borders?
I am using TDE Classic Style.
When I am reading an online article in a web browser, often I "fling"
the mouse pointer to the left edge of the screen to keep the pointer out
of the way of reading text. I use the mouse scroll wheel to move down
the page.
With TDE I can't do that because when the pointer hovers over that left
edge window border the effect is to kill scrolling. I have to
continually bump the mouse pointer to the right to get off the border.
I do not experience this in other desktop environments. Memory muscle
and habits are difficult to change. So I am thinking this is a property
of twin.
Try switching to a window decoration style that has no side borders, like KStep.
(No idea whether that will work, but it's easy enough to test.)
Better late than never I guess. :D
I don't know why this suggestion failed last year. PEBKAC I am sure. I
tried again yesterday. I was using the TDE Classic Widget Style and KDE2
Window Decorations. I changed the Window Decorations to Plastik. I
enabled Normal Border size and Colored window border.
This time around with Plastik I no longer have a border around full
screen Firefox and no longer have the paper cut of being unable to mouse
wheel scroll when I slap the mouse pointer against the left vertical
edge of Firefox.
Curiously I found only two Window Decorations that succeeded (I forget
the other option. All others had a distinct vertical border with Firefox
in full screen mode. Curious the border disappears with full screen
Firefox but appears when not in full screen.
Anyway, rub my belly and watch my leg jiggle. I'm content with the
result. I'm posting this follow-up in case the updated information helps
other folks.
