The missing symbol should be in file:
   /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libapt-pkg.so.6.0
which comes from package libapt-pkg6.0:amd64 which our earlier "dpkg -l"
told us was installed so let's have dpkg verify it:

   dpkg -C
   dpkg -V libapt-pkg6.0:amd64
