Thanks!  So the "everyting" spelling came with the ispell package!
Curious.

Now that I look through my .aspell.en.pws file, it would appear the
spell checker in kwrite is adding "new" words into $HOME/.aspell.en.pws .
I see words therein using diacritical characters, and it's highly
unlikely that would occur from any use I made of nano.

So, my confusion is somewhat abated.
