The easiest way would probably be to
| mv .trinity/share/config/kmail .trinity/share/config/kmail-old
| mkdir .trinity/share/config/kmail
| cp -a .trinity/share/config/kmail-old/mail .trinity/share/config/kmail/
(the last is your actual emails)
and restart kmail.

Less drastic would be to delete or rename
| .trinity/share/apps/kmail/kmcomposerui.rc
| .trinity/share/apps/kmail/kmmainwin.rc
| .trinity/share/apps/kmail/kmreadermainwin.rc
| .trinity/share/config/kmailcvtrc
| .trinity/share/config/kmail.eventsrc
| .trinity/share/config/kmailrc
| .trinity/share/config/kmailsnippetrc
and restart kmail.
(Somebody please comment on this if a sanity-check shows that more steps need to be
taken.)
