Hi Dep,

I'm currently using SSDs on all my machines. Running PCLOS Big Daddy (Ali
Izzard's roll). All is working perfectly. On me slowest machine, the boot up
time is 58 seconds from boot menu to desktop. On the fastest machine (Intel
Core i9-10980XE 3.0 GHz 28 cores) boot up is about 18 to 24 secs.

I'm using mostly Seagate (6 in the big machine with 8 spin drives), 1 WD in an
old 2 core 3.4GHz laptop.

For boot drives, I recommend 1 tbs for wiggle room. 500 doesn't cut it anymore
because of the sheer amount of software available. Ali / PCLOS keep me neck
deep with cool software. For home drvs 2tbs is great. I'm also go for a 3rd
(multimedia) and 4 drv (large personal files like home movies and photos).

ALWAYS have, at least one backup drive equal to the total sum off all your
drvs for a given machine.

I have an internal and external drv for the big machine and most of the
desktops and an ext for the laptops.

As for keeping your org install on the spin drive, good idea. So long as you
machine doesn't have a problem with booting. I'd keep all other drives
disconnected until you complete your install them reattach them. You can't
change your home drive later one.

Hope this makes sense, it's a pretty rushed reply.

Kate
