folks,

I can't get back into the desktop, been having file system problems so this is likely related but for now I just want back to the desktop however fragile.

I get an error message after entering username and password:
"There was an error setting up inter-process comunication for TDE."

then:

"could not read network connection list
check dcopserver is running"

then if I press 'ok' I get:
"could not start tdeinit. Check your installation."

I have tried removing the .ICEauthority and other .dcop stuff from the home directory.

the system is on Buster. I just did the latest upgrade several days ago. (the file system problems started earlier; occasionally 'read-only' system so have to run fsck.)

ssd, kinda of aged.

grateful for tips.
