asked Gene Heskett:

|Silly Q: do they do mailing lists?

i don't think so, but i don't know with certainty.

|And how much per annum do they want for a paid service?

i'm paying $48/year, but that's because i wanted to bring a domain (drippingwithirony.com) along. they have more expensive services, typically i'd guess for businesses.

it's worth knowing that end-to-end encryption requires the person on the other end to be a protonmail user as well. for anyone else, they encrypt it from desktop to them, and on their servers. they're in switzerland, which has pretty stringent privacy laws. they also offer a vpn, which i'm considering, though the fast ones are substantially more than their mail service.

though for now i'm content to get protonmail bridge installed and playing nicely with kmail.
