We are trying this out and have applied it to a few of our systems. It's a fairly rare event so it's not immediately clear yet if it makes a difference. If anyone else would do this there are two points that should be followed: 1. After replacing the file in /lib/firmware remember to run update-initramfs -u for the kernel to use it. 2. Remember to update the firmware on the card as well because we saw a huge amount of random connection errors before doing so.
