Hi Scott,

does your Samba instance have the "sync always = yes" paramter set in
smb.conf?  If not Samba will never issues a sync or fsync call and thus
not provide any sort of data integrity.  Unfortunately this is both
the default of the out of the box upstream Samba config and most NAS
appliances.
