This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled x86/tdx: Fix "in-kernel MMIO" check to the 6.10-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: x86-tdx-fix-in-kernel-mmio-check.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.10 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 602d64b8731b4e2df83b0f8416a0539a22775a59 Author: Alexey Gladkov (Intel) <legion@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri Sep 13 19:05:56 2024 +0200 x86/tdx: Fix "in-kernel MMIO" check [ Upstream commit d4fc4d01471528da8a9797a065982e05090e1d81 ] TDX only supports kernel-initiated MMIO operations. The handle_mmio() function checks if the #VE exception occurred in the kernel and rejects the operation if it did not. However, userspace can deceive the kernel into performing MMIO on its behalf. For example, if userspace can point a syscall to an MMIO address, syscall does get_user() or put_user() on it, triggering MMIO #VE. The kernel will treat the #VE as in-kernel MMIO. Ensure that the target MMIO address is within the kernel before decoding instruction.
