This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled ASoC: mediatek: mt8195-afe-pcm: Convert to platform remove callback returning void to the 5.15-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: asoc-mediatek-mt8195-afe-pcm-convert-to-platform-rem.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.15 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 0319d75a6aa4b9c01fff57c4b09ce8db14e79d6f Author: Uwe Kleine-König <u.kleine-koenig@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed Mar 15 16:06:45 2023 +0100 ASoC: mediatek: mt8195-afe-pcm: Convert to platform remove callback returning void [ Upstream commit 6461fee68064ba970e3ba90241fe5f5e038aa9d4 ] The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant.
