Paul, I have just updated to 1.5.2 svn rev 14501 and I am experiencing this exact issue I believe. I have sent a detailed write-up of the upgrade and login failure to the list under Subject: svn 14501 - TLS handshaking: SSL_accept() failed: error: ... alert unknown ca: SSL alert number 48 I am just dropping a note here to let you know I have a pure squirrelmail.org install and it is response to your request here.
