I don't remember changing any checkboxes in local ip range. Only increased
priority of rules in order to disable autoban. telnet terminal in the right
shows that user can send emails to external address without authorization,
if local mail from: address is used.

Last checkbox on the right side should be unchecked, if you use email
forwarders and allow users to set custom from: addresses.

If you want to turn on smtp authentication, see $smtp_auth_mech setting in
SquirrelMail config.php. It is documented in config_default.php. hMailServer
supports only 'login' or 'none'. Other authentication options are not
supported.
