There's a 99.9% chance that your issue is an unseen PHP error.

It's OK to ask for help, but you ALWAYS have to specify ANY
customizations you've made, in addition to everything that is listed
in the mailing list posting guidelines, which you should have read.
I'm guessing your problem is the lack of the JavaScript autodetect
form input on your custom login page.  Grep the login page source for
"js_autodetect_results".
