Not recommended for Maildir and Courier, at least in cPanel installation. There are special config files (e.g. quota) that keep track of messages, etc., so if you simply FTP, then you risk the mail account not working properly. Anyway, I did transfer what I needed, using Outlook (as Paul and I discussed).
