I'm already using mbox ;-)

without subfolders:

rainer@rainix:~/mail> ls -ld
drwx------ 3 rainer users 312 May 17 21:47 .
rainer@rainix:~/mail>

Interesting: If I create a new folder from within SM; I get an empty
mbox instead of a folder:

rainer@rainix:~/mail> ls -al testfolder
-rw------- 1 rainer users 0 May 17 21:51 testfolder
rainer@rainix:~/mail>

Now, if I create the same folder (after deleting it) from Thunderbird:

rainer@rainix:~/mail> ls -al testfolder
total 0
drwx------ 2 rainer users 48 May 17 21:53 .
drwx------ 4 rainer users 344 May 17 21:53 ..
rainer@rainix:~/mail>

More: If I create testfolder from TB while SM is running, refresh
folders does /not/ display testfolder, only after logging out and logging
in back.
This /could/ also to be blamed to imapproxy, not sure. Strange. I will
have a look with tcpdump tomorrow.
I can work with this folder from both SM and TB. When creating
testfolder, TB asks me if it will contain subfolders or messages only,
while SW aks not.
I would say, SM is wrong here. As said before, I'm using 1.4.9a.
