Getting message Error opening ../data/default_pref on W2003 running Apache

Hello,
I am getting the following error message after entering valid login
credentials at the SquirrelMail Login screen:

"Error opening ../data/default_pref
Could not create initial preference file!
../config/D:\Data\Data/ should be writable by user httpd
Please contact your system administrator and report this error."

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Some details:

- I have set the permissions on the Windows 'Everyone' account to
'Modify' for my 'Data' and 'Attachements' folders
- OS - Windows Server 2003 R2
- Web Server - Apache 5.5
- SquirrelMail Version 1.4.9a
- PHP Version 5.2.1
- Browser - IE7
- IMAP Server - hMailServer Version 4.3.1
- I did not change any 'Plugin' related options when I installed so I
am not sure exactly what plugins I do or do not have activated
- To install the package I unzipped the files to a 'mail' subdirectory
on my web server. I created a 'D:\Data\Data' folder and a
'D:\Data\Attachements' folder. I ran the 'conf.pl' script and
configured the various options.
