Furthermore it's depending on the system you're using. If the IMAP server has some extension to handle this (I don't even know if such an extension exists), I assume SquirrelMail could make use of it with a plugin (or worst case: by patching the core). The other way would be to resend the mail to yourself but without the attachment, but that'll corrupt the original headers when they go through the SMTP server a second time. The question has been up at the lists before, but I don't remember seeing any solution to it.
