Are you using any proxy services between you and SquirrelMail? The error you are seeing sounds like your web server just stopped processing data. This can be possible if PHP exceeds memory limits, and decides to quit processing. It is also possible that you have an apache setting that is causing a similar issue. As I don't remember seeing your earlier message (I'm playing some major catch up, so working backwards through my email), I may have missed more detailed specifications on your server.
