    Hey Robert,

The internet reachability test is composed of couple parts.

Only one of them is HTTP.

There is also an ICMP and DNS part to it.

You can customize it on the registry at:

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet

The windows internet access check doesn’t affect other software, they do not rely on any of windows checks but do this by themselves.

I hope this have helped you.
I can try to test it locally but it’s better that you will first make a tiny effort to dump with wireshark the traffic on the interface
(after you have flushed the dns cahce) to verify what traffic windows use to test the internet connectivity.

This will highlight your issue and will probably make more sense into what you see.

    hi all,

trying to fool windows it has internet access and not just network access

    looking at this guide

i have put in my white list

i have whitelisted ports 80 and 443 by default

on my windows client i have enabled the proxy via settings > proxy > manual proxy setup

and also i have enabled the winhttp proxy putting this in cmd

    netsh winhttp set proxy ip_address:port

and i get back a connection test text saying "microsoft connect test" if i go to

but my network icon is still saying just network access only not internet access

can anyone help me out please

    thanks,

    rob
