This is a BUG to my opinion but I do not know (yet) how to look at it.
It states that an error accrue but it seems like a syntax error to me
rather then access error.

Unfortunately the details on errors available from OpenSSL are not always very informative. If you could look into this Eliezer a patch would be welcome, even if it just added some debugs lines suggesting things to look at.
