Hey,
Too much changing?
While you want to install squid on Ubuntu you will need to compile it
from source and more info starts here:
http://wiki.squid-cache.org/SquidFaq/CompilingSquid
There are couple of dependencies which needs to be matched in order to
compile squid and if you do want you can also take a look at:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1847884
Which has a small demonstration.
If you will describe what you will need from the server which I assume
no auth is needed it would be very simple to implement.
For storeurl successor the StoreID this is where to start:
http://wiki.squid-cache.org/Features/StoreID
I would also recommend you to take a tiny peek at:
http://wiki.squid-cache.org/ConfigExamples/DynamicContent/Coordinator
The above shows a nice "twist" of how to implement squid caching of
content "de-duplication" before the StoreID feature was implemented and
many things that needs consideration while using it.
Here if you need me,
Eliezer
