2.6.26-2-amd64 is not an 'official' release name. This is the release name of the package your distro shipped, not squid team. And your searches took you to the most interesting information: there was NO squid 2.6.26, the last 2.6 one was stable23.
So, 2.6.26-2-amd64 seems to really be your KERNEL version, not your squid version.
