Im running the cache_dir on a independent 7200 rpm 40GB disc
the cachedir is:
cache_dir aufs /var/spool/squid 20000 28 256
the file system is reiserfs mounted with options
notail,noatime
The replacement of objects is heap GDSF
you can find the full config of this cache here
http://jb.cancun.net.mx/squid/proxy3.conf
Thank you
Juan

that seems to be aprox the number of FD lost,
these are used by objects, files on disc,
used but not free at the end of use, much of
this objects were called many days ago
maybe is good idea go back to 2.6 with this fedora 10 servers

Hello Henrik
I included in the website
<http://jb.cancun.net.mx/squid/>http://jb.cancun.net.mx/squid/
3 compressed files with the result of
squidclient mgr:filedescriptors ls -l /proc/`cat /var/run/squid.pid`/fd/
from 3 diferent squids 3.0 stable 18 proxies
the name of the files are
<<http://jb.cancun.net.mx/squid/fd-proxy1.tar.gz>http://jb.cancun.net.mx/squid/fd-proxy1.tar.gz>fd-proxy1.tar.gz
<<http://jb.cancun.net.mx/squid/fd-proxy1.tar.gz>http://jb.cancun.net.mx/squid/fd-proxy1.tar.gz>fd-proxy2.tar.gz
and
<<http://jb.cancun.net.mx/squid/fd-proxy1.tar.gz>http://jb.cancun.net.mx/squid/fd-proxy1.tar.gz>fd-proxy3<<http://jb.cancun.net.mx/squid/fd-proxy1.tar.gz>http://jb.cancun.net.mx/squid/fd-proxy1.tar.gz>.tar.gz
I take some time to post this, because we wait 8 days for the fd lose to grow
the stats of the 3 caches are for 8 days of operation
proxy1 have much less traffic than proxy2 or proxy3
if you want I have the graphs of the 3 caches or
if you want to see someting of the config
please let me know

Odd..
what are these filedescriptors connected to? See cachemgr
filedescriptor page, and /proc for the Squid process
squidclient mgr:filedescriptors
ls -l /proc/`cat /var/run/squid.pid`/fd/
