Ahh, ok, that makes sense. Do you know, where to find a list of required files in the chroot-directory for squid?

It depends a bit on what you are using.

If just Squid with aufs (or ufs, but not coss) then basically nothing is
needed in the chroot except for cache & logs. But you probably want
mime.conf + icons there. But it varies slightly with Squid version.

Howeever, if your Squid needs to run helpers such as authentication,
diskd, url rewriters etc then the chroot needs to contain whatever those
helpers need to run, just as any normal chroot.

Ok, I've copied mime.conf, icons and errors to root, also the unlinkd, resolv.conf and nsswitch.conf. Now i can start squid, but it can't do dns lookups, it repreats the following error on startup:

2009/08/19 13:26:23| Starting Squid Cache version 3.0.STABLE8 for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu...
2009/08/19 13:26:23| Process ID 26190
2009/08/19 13:26:23| With 1024 file descriptors available
2009/08/19 13:26:23| Performing DNS Tests...
FATAL: ipcache_init: DNS name lookup tests failed.

Are there any files, i forgot?

Thanks,

Tom
