Yes that would be the easiest thing at present.
Keep an eye on http://www.squid-cache.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=2395
as well. I have crossed fingers that we might be able to solve it within
only a few years (ie Squid-3.3 or 3.4 maybe).
