I guess that is required in 2.7 Well. not strictly required unless you use daemon: for a logfile but Squid still checks that the helper exists. You simply got the error because you relocated the Squid binaries into a different directory/folder than it's build for. squid.conf then needs to have all paths relocated accordingly..
