The FTP URL syntax for non-anonymous FTP is

  ftp://user:password@host/

and is understood by all browsers, most of the time..

Squid also supports requesting authentication when seeing an
ftp://user@host/ URL, but not all browsers supports authentication onf
proxied FTP URLs and display an error instead (either internal error, or
the Squid "authentication required" error)..
