Hello, Dave writes:
Hello,
I've got squid running as a transparent proxy with squidguard as a redirector. To this i want to add dansguardian for content filtering and privoxy for privacy. I am having difficulties with these latter two, i'd like to keep squid's transparent mode as i think that makes it harder for users to get around the setup. If anyone has this working i'd appreciate knowing about it.

I didn't use transparent proxying so I'm not sure how this will work. I blocked all direct connections to port 80 through my firewall. This keeps my users from bypassing it without some work. I set dansguardian up as a standalong service on its own port and told it to send all connections to squid. Something like this: user -> proxy.pac -> dansguardian -> squid Its means having an additional service, but it works quite well. It also leaves squid open for peering with other caches. Also, this method lets you test dansguardian or squid seperately. Hope this helps. ---
