Yes, its a serious bug. I've had the Wikimedia people give me a handful of
COSS bugs that need fixing. The problem is time and I don't have a lot of it
at the moment.

If you think the bug is important to fix then please consider hiring a
developer to get it fixed and contribute the work back to the project.
I'll get to it eventually but I have enough on my plate, namely:

* Squid-2 development work to fix the storage layer and generally speed up
  in-memory hit processing (which i've had a small amount of funding to
  do but its -some- funding, so its got my highest priority)
* Finishing off the replacement website (and I'm not a web developer,
  so its taking time!)
